BNP get a place on Question Time

I'm quite glad this is happening. Not because I support the BNP in any way, but because its a rather adequate finger in the eye of the government—who will now be forced to confront issues they've repeatedly ignored—and also because it demonstrates that at least some people in the BBC understand the concept of impartiality.
I can only hope that there will be people on the panel erudite enough to grind whichever representative the BNP elects to use into the ground.

We may not like what they have to say, but they do have a right to say it. What does it say for the electoral system when an elected party isn't given the same proportional space to speak alongside other elected parties?
Good on the BBC for finally being impartial, even though I think the BNP are vile.

That should be an interesting show to watch.
Would love to see winky or mandy on the same show with Nick
It won't happen, Nulabia will phone up "rent-a-mob" aka the Stalinesque UAF who will disrupt the venue/filming etc. Would love to see winky or mandy on the same show with Nick

IMHO this is a fantastic thing to do, not only will it force the discussion of the issues that are driving people to support the BNP, but it will also allow people to debate their more questionable policies and attitudes. This change in tactic, will I am sure result in less support in the long term, than sponsoring Nazi'esque organisations like the UAF or Searchlight

No. Labour will let them have their 15 minutes, since they will steal from the party which used to be known as the Tories (now 'hug a hoodie, economic cataclysm - no comment'), but which now has zero policies about anything, unfortunately.

Labour fear the BNP for precisely that reason- they claim the same 'core' voters. The Conservatives' core vote has little to fear from immigration.

Rubbish, most people I know who support the BNP are middle class, Mail readers who would usually vote Tory but find they aren't right wing enough these days.

I won't claim that there are no anti-immigration Conservative voters, but it is a small proportion. Those middle class Mail readers you talk of aren't competing for jobs with our recent immigrant population. Labour is between a rock and a hard place on this issue; both of their own making.
The current debacle in Birmingham is most amusing, for precisely this reason...

I wonder if the BBC are doing this to help their party of choice out, as they are up against the ropes, and having a BNP representative on the show will delflect from their own unpopularity....
Is that this BBC?http://www.newstatesman.com/uk-politics/2009/08/me...

Never sold a vote in my life.

I am sorry, but I simply cannot envisage ANY 'middle class' (whatever that means..) reading the Mail.. Arn't they more likely to read the Guardian, Telegraph or FT?
It depends on how you wish to define middle class but I would think more middle class people would read the Mail than either the Guardian or FT due to its much higher circulation.Baby Huey said:

This could be the one opportunity for BNP to back up their claims that they are not racist.
Should be an interesting show!
How? If Nick doesn't beat up a black man on National TV will that mean the BNP aren't racist anymore.Should be an interesting show!
IMHO of course!
