There is a good inch play on my accelerator pedal before it actually connects and starts doing anything.

Is this normal, and is it easy to adjust?

Definitely not normal, and sounds worrying. Feel to see if there is lots of slack at the engine end - where the cable outer attaches to the bracket and connects to the throttle. Can't remember exactly how it adjusts, but an inch seems like a lot. Slack here means the cable could fall off, which is also worrying.

Theres a little bit of info on www.tvrfreak.com which relates to changing the throttle cable. This may help on where to look and maybe how to adjust.

cheers guys

will take a look at the weekend. Dont know much about these things, but it does'nt seem like the cable, it's as if the pedal is simply loose - you can easily move it up and down about an inch with your fingers. Once it engages it's fine. Checking my other cars, they all seem to have slack on their pedals, but on the Cerb there is a bit more

If the slack is when you pull the pedal towards you with your fingers, then not much to worry about. Check that the small rubber grommet at the pedal bracket (through which the throttle cable passes) hasn't split or perished. Otherwise, the throttle pedal can rattle around a bit.
