Anyone here goes sea fishing ...?
Discussion
Out of idle curiosity..
those chaps that I see huddled around the marine in Brighton from time to time, dangling their pieces over the edge (no, not those ones, the other ones; the fishermen..)
what fish are they hoping to catch? and is it for food or sport or both?
- Can't help but think it's real dedication to the cause when I see them all wrapped up for an 'all nighter' in the freezing nights of winter.
Any ideas what's likely to be on the menu?

Mackerel and pollock maybe?
Used to catch Mackerel off my uncles boat in Plymouth as a youngster
Ah that brings back memories, I used to do the same (from my father's boat, not your uncle's....unless you happen to be my long lost cousin).Used to catch Mackerel off my uncles boat in Plymouth as a youngster

Ive just got back into sea fishing! I tend to fish of my sit on top sea kayak! been catching a fair few Pollock, Wrasse and Mackerel, with the odd little Bass in for good measure. I very much go sea fishing for the table though I do find it very theraputic and relaxing! I also do a spot of course and game fishing too!

I've wondered this as well, especially as the water is filthy. There's a sewage outlet just past the Marina. those chaps that I see huddled around the marine in Brighton from time to time, dangling their pieces over the edge (no, not those ones, the other ones; the fishermen..)

A friend who dives there was unlucky enough to catch some of the outfall - he said the fish were gobbling it up!
