I suppose it was only a matter of time! On a lighter note looks like it has both front indicators.

Almost worth storing a keeping but got no room

Hope somebody gets it back on the track, but I'm a little surprised that a car scrapped under the "lets give tax payers' money to foreign car manufacturers" scheme can be sold on rather than scrapped.

The good thing is that someone in the trade has had this come in, but rather than just crushing it, has given a chance for a rescue.

It is effectively being sold as scrap. If you choose to use it as spare parts, scrap metal, or track it is irrelevant. It comes as something not registered for road use in the UK.

The big question is what would it take to register it; presumably the process would be similar registering a newly built kit car? Most kit cars are built utilising a donor car. How little would DVLA accept needs changing?

The alternative would be if it could be registered overseas.

One of my sons is 21 soon; he’d kill for it as a birthday present if it could be re-registered. Unfortunately his long suffering mother has quite enough with one TVR nut in the house and would kill me if I did.

Sad sad sad,

Unless it needed a lot of chassis work etc it makes no sense at all.

Could it be put back on the road by using a cherished number?

No as the chassis number will be marked as a scrap car by the DVLA, motor traders are told they MUST actually have the cars scrapped by an authorised environmental compay in order to get their money from the government and that they can't be broken for parts either. This poor car will either have to be a track car only or used for some donor parts that are salvageable confused
cheers.....Tony..

just re-register on a Q as a car with no identity. back on the road as what it is but a Q plate because its true identity couldn't be ascertained??

Not too sure how the whole Q plate thing works but surely the chassis number will stay the same so wouldn't that create a problem doing it that way, also who would want an S on a Q plate?

No.
if a stolen recovered car is then genuinely sold it is registered as a Q.

remove all this cars ID, or if for example due to rust repairs the cars chassis number is lost then it can be registered as a Q after a DVLA inspection.

If it is re registered as a Q (if possible) with a 2009 Manufacture date wont it be succeptible to the New Tax Laws coming in, if so I dread to think of the tax rate with its emmissions.
I did think of buying this as I have the valid log book for the one i bought to convert to a V8 but it would have too many illegal "arthur daley" type issues if I ever had to sell it, plus the price is now reaching a level where for an extra £1500 you could probably buy a half decent one and avoid all the associated problems of re registering which I am sure cant be done using this chassis number, if so what is the point of the crappage scheme.
Note the scrappage scheme in America now protects "Classic Cars"
