Hi all, new member here, go easy with me.

Current ride is a volvo C70 T5, new ride was to be a C30 T5 until a visit to the dentist a month ago. On route to said dentist I passed a garage selling what turned out to be a Monaro. I was hooked immediately. That was on a Thursday, on Saturday I went back to maybe buy it, and it was gone. It was for sale at £14,900. About three days later it has shown up in a garage three miles down the road with £2000 added to price. Now obviously I cannot buy this car knowing full well it was 2k cheaper the previous week. The car is in the PH classifieds at the moment.

So now after 2 weeks of lurking on these forums, searching the classifieds, autotrader, and the net, I am no closer to owning one.

One major problem is that a lot of available cars are down south, (I am in West Yorkshire) so have to be sure the cars I go see are the best available. This is where you guys (and gals) come in. Maybe you can recommend a car or two. I do have my eye on a couple. The red one at Research Arbarth which I think is way over priced and the blue one at Bayliss. Don't want black, and current car is silver, but do like red. I have seemed to come to the conclusion that if I can get a red 6.0ltr Vxr for about £15k/16k I will be happy as the preverbiale pig in do da's.

Sorry for the long first post, and Hi again to all.

Good luck mate, there are a few around so if you keep your eye out Im sure you will find something.
Also check out autotrader. Though I suggest you check the boot out first. Its about the size of my rear passenger footwell.
If you are ok with that cool. If not I suggest you try and find the even rarer 04 vxr as it has a huge boot.

Your car history is scarily similar to mine, Volvo C70 T5, well had a few of them then a C30 T5 then a Monaro after a good few inbetween.

Good luck with the search.

Must admit, the T5 has been bullet proof for the last five years, that's why I was looking for another Volvo, but have now have been bitten by the monaro bug.

Hi mate, what car was you eyeing up?

If you really want a Monaro distance shouldnt be no object. I picked up my Monaro last week and drove it 500 miles home

http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1198560.htm is the one that jumped £2k for nothing.

http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/599529.htm is one i have my eye on purely for the colour

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VAUX... is the one I like the look of but think is over priced

Its the same pic and everything that I spotted a few weeks back, they using the sam photos at shipley?

Think you would be v lucky to get £1500 off a used car anywhere these days, far too few cars about for discounts of that order!

There were no photos when it was listed at Sunwin Motors. It appears motorhouse got the car from them, then inflated the price. £1500 was a bit large discount but I am a trier, and from Yorkshire hehe

Yeah Ive noticed things have not been dropping in price. Im thinking its a symptom of QE, you can only run the printing presses for so long before inflation starts to fly. Bloody C6's need to fall £10k too biggrin

My heart is set on a 6.0vxr in red, and I am a very patient man. But being a tight git, I am finding it hard to justify over £17k for an 05/06 car when I could get a VXR8 for low 20's. ( btw I don't have £20k+, my max is £17k cash). I even have a buyer for my T5 who is prepared to wait.

You may as well compare the Monaro to an M5... totally different animals. Ones a coupe and individual, the other is more modern but 4 doors and more of a stock looking car.
