House party at the weekend, we had an outside projector on a screen and a soundsystem with various music and images, after a while we broke out the X-Box and Gee-Tar Hero (this seems to be the games home turf) great music and over the top play.

Anyway at one point somebody said "This would be better with Goldeneye...." At which point a cross section of people agreed.

So now it's being organised. Next month.

Outside Marquee, projector, huge screen, sound system and an N64. Loads of beer, probably some other intoxicants and a BBQ.

Lastly all attendees will have to dress as the Multiplayer character they will be using.

I'll be going like this:

Is this a good idea or has the Geek factor gone too far?

We went to a mates BBQ a little while back after they had finished having loads of work done to the house, the lounge had a completely blank white wall which we thought was strange until he switched on his Wii and we were playing life size golf....great laugh thumbup

In the olden days it would be a regular evening to have 4 or 5 mates around and Golden Eye multi-player on.

Only ever rivalled by Mario Kart.

I'll take the RCP-90 in the library please Bob.

Sounds like it could be brilliant, my only fear is that the graphics will look dreadful when blown up so large.

Can you not play something a "little" bit more up to date? Timesplitters 2 (an oldie but a goody), Gears of war, Rainbow 6 etc.

Cue the arguments about camping!

I normally mine myself into one of the big chemical rooms, then get bored after 5 minutes because no-one will come and get me!

We had to stop playing using proximity mines at uni, as we got to know only too well where people would come back to life. One or two people got a bit pissed off after dying 6 times in a row...

We still have an N64 in the loft, and bring it out now and again. If one of the console makers would do a slightly newer version, I'd be all over it...

I think the DSP used here was north of 50K.

Haha, so reminiscent of my weekend just gone. I was bored on Saturday and spent over 2 hours moving the entire loft around, just to find the N64 case. Found it eventually, gave the Goldeneye cartridge the usual blow to remove a few years of dust, stuck it on and spent 5 hours re-playing the whole game! Then moved on to Mari Kart and SanFrancisco Rush smile

Not geeky at all my friend. If i still had a SNES, i'd be hosting MegaBomberman parties most weekends! Now just gotta find me a copy of Lylat Wars and Wave Race down at GameStation and i'll be happy smile

Good times.

ETA: Just found both games on Fleabay for pittence. Next weekend should be equally as fun smile

Get Perfect Dark in as well.
Far better multiplayer than Goldeneye; both graphically and in the never-ending options you can make to the multi games (like a modern game!).
Awesome games console the N64! thumbup

Can you shoot someones hat off in the toilets?
Can you bungee jump off a dam?

No... then shut up!

tongue out
It's seriously far more addictive than any game i played on the 360 or any other console i bought for that matter. The only one that has even come close to the hours of gameplay that Goldeneye gave me is COD4.

I'm now sitting at work watching YouTube videos of N64 games and deciding which ones to try and find.

Sad basterds.....

NB Goldeneye is possibly the greatest MP shootem up of all time, just behind BF1942/DC

Why does a developer make an exact copy for Xbox, i mean an XB live only game like BF1946, they would make a killing.

lol!
but bunker was all about camping..

One person gets holed up in the room with all the tv's in. The other 2 come after him, working together, until he is dead. As soon as he is dead, it's f ree for all between the 2.
Last man standing camps out in the spot again. We used to play this way for hours, without it getting stale - you just never knew hoe far camp man managed to go with the mines =)

I think it was over a row between Rare, Nintendo and Microsoft.

Hence why you can’t get it as a retro game on either the Wii or Xbox.

Which imo is such a shame.

I've done what’s been talked about on my 42" and it was cool for an hour or two but I think the moment has passed.

I much prefer to think back than play the game i.e. what would have happened if I had got across the water on Dam. What was behind the door in Archives etc.... Could anyone crack the speed times set on each level (some of them as low as 24 seconds)

We had a band of 8 friends who played it more than anyone should and tbh we are now all split either by counties or by countries (although some of us still talk) so getting the crew back in to recreate a time when turning on the oven at 2am to put some oven chips in was naughty (don’t want to wake up MUM Arghh) I think putting away my golden controller and expansion pack (i was convinced that it made GE run better on my parents 28" Sony!!) biggrin and remembering them as times before life got complicated drink, cars and even girls even is best.

Good times.
