Looking at houses, can find one we both like with double garage .

Roughly how much would it be to have one built with a tiled roof (with pointy bit in the middle). Nothing awkward in terms of slope or access etc.

I'm in Norwich if that matters.

Thanks

From memory my bigger than standard single garage with pointy bit in the middle type tiled roof cost me about 3 grand but that was with me doing the digging and concreting, making the doors, doing the electrics and roof and paying a bricky and a plasterer (for rendering) so I wouldn't think you'd get one built for under 10k.

I would figure around the £10K mark

I think my mum got quoted £17K for a double attached to the house were there is currently a single, in brickwork with a hipped, tiled roof.

That was about 2 or 3 years ago so builders might be a little keener at the moment.

I did my own single garage for £2500 and the materials were all seconds and some from ebay.

The foundation cost me £700 alone.

On a planning application I have submitted for a client they have a 3m x 3.7m garden store, 4 courses of stone then rendered block with a double pitched roof with grey slate tiles. Hardwood double doors to the front elevation, strip foundation and ground bearing slab. They have been quoted at £6.5k but the builder will be on site with the house extension. As a ruff guide work on around £600 per sq m for a garage.

Materials?

Size?

I assume you're talking about a pitched roof on all sides.

Electric?

Water?

Single double door or two single doors?

Pedestrian access?

Automatic doors?

Lighting?

Upstairs?

Storage in roofspace?

Cut roof or truss?

It could be anywhere from 10 - 30k! It really depends on the answers above, you need to start speccing it..

Mine is 4.5m long and 12m wide - I got quoted 18k to knock it down and rebuild ( brick) ( subsidence ) that included base, insulated roof, skimmed walls electrics and a water supply, double skin would have added 4k .

I thought that was a good price

I had a wooden garage built earlier this year 5.5m x 6.1m with tiled roof total about 10.5k including automatic door.

Had a quote for a block garage as well which was just a couple of hundred pounds more.

If you are up to fitting a door yourself, you can save a good few quid by using Garage Door King off t'internet. Excellent product and easy to fit.

Thread hijack...

I know it has been discussed before, but a little while ago..

Anyone used a paint or sealant covering for their garage floor, if so what / who?

Mrs eps isn't keen on blue/grey so any other colours available? I've seen red, but don't think that's a goer either!!

International do a range of floor paints and workshop paints which are pretty good. We use them in the workshop here.

I got some 2 part epoxy floor paint for my garage, looks fantastic and was not too badly priced from ebay. There is a thread in GG if you search where I got the link to the supplier from.

Cheers

It was a two person job as it had to be down within 20 mins or so but not really that difficult. The finish is much better than paint IMO

I used to use 2 part floor paint on an MOD site a few years ago, was dead easy, two smaller tins inside one large one, mix them both together and roller it on. I could easily paint through a 5 litre mix on my own with approx 45 mins working time. The can said twenty minutes but it never went off that quickly!

I think the going off time is highly temperature dependent, on a warm day you will have a lot less time
