frs brakes on a mondeo st200
Discussion
Has any one seen it done ? the front brakes
if so is it posible to squesse them under st200 17s ?
I know that the mk1 frs came with 18s
if there are any owners on here that could mesure from the center of the hub to the outside of the caliper so I can check clearance before I buy please it would be very helpfull
I will have to upgrade the brakes anyway I mite aswell go all the way and have some good stoppers

I don't think they will, but will fit on the Mk3 with an appropriate mounting bracket.
Mk3 front calipers (or Focus ST170 ones) are a straight bolt on and allow you to go to a 300mm disc (Focus ST170) on the front.
ETA - checked with someone who knows... he says "FRS discs go straight on, and if you use the Brembo calipers they need a mod to miss the knuckle and adaptor plates to fit. You'll also need 18" wheels, the standard ST200 alloys don't have the clearance."

The 300mm setup makes quite a difference. I also put braided hoses on mine and it improved the feel (and performance) significantly (although I changed the rear discs and pads whilst I was at it).I found a set for sale and it got me thinking

For reference ALL Mk3 callipers are the same - doesn't matter if they are from a 1.8LX or an ST220... so don't let anyone fob you off with that. Focus ST170 ones are also the same. Expect to pay £50 for a pair including carriers.
They're direct bolt on, so you shouldn't have any problems.
I used Mintex discs and pads all round, and got Goodridge braided hoses from someone on a forum I think, but you can get them from eBay easily enough.
Other than that, change the fluid and you're good to go. Some people like fancy pads and discs, but I wasn't too bothered.

done some more thinking if I upgrade the front do I need to upgrade the rears ?
with 300mm on the front and 253mm rears will that cause any problems both will be groved and vented with redstuff pads
Dan
No, it's fine. The majority of braking is done by the front anyway.with 300mm on the front and 253mm rears will that cause any problems both will be groved and vented with redstuff pads
