I was just wondering whether any Griff 500 owners had had their suspension uprated/upgraded on their cars? If so, does it make a big difference in keeping the tail stuck to the tarmac !!?? Also, who does what packages and which are best ? Thanks.

We can help here.
Andy, our suspension and brake man (also sets up WRC entries for Ford) can set your car up properly. We can also supply fully adjustable suspension kits and WRC brakes.
Ted test drove our Griffith last August which still had the original suspension. Follow this link for his review:

Thanks for the info guys. If i have the work done will this make the insurance premium go up?

Not usually as they normally consider it a safety improvement.

I can add that the Zertec suspension chap certainly made a huge contribution to the stability of my Chimaera. It goes round corners now and everything!

Depends on what you have done and how the insurers view the modifications. On my Griffith with Ohlins suspension the "Mannings" TVR insurance scheme required a 15% increase in premium because the suspension is adjustable. I guess that this refers to adjustable ride height but never took the time to find out the exact reasons. All of this was also despite having uprated brakes on the car.

First thing was to have the Zertec man have a chat with me to ask how I used the car. I told him mostly fast A & B roads and motorways, plus track days.

So he gave me some straight-line stability (but not too much, because you lose turn-in) and at least 2-3 degrees of negative camber at the rear. Result, it feels really planted. I've since had new adjustable dampers (Ledas) and new bushes fitted -- the old ones were shot.

I'm now wondering if it isn't time to have the whole kit readjusted. It hangs on in bumpy corners still in a way that it never used to though, and I'd put 75% of that down to the settings rather than the hardware.

But then, I'm no expert.

PS: I should add that as a five-year-old car, it could probably do with new springs too!
