Sounds strange I know but can anyone compare the F1 system to DCT system. I'm thinking of changing the 430 for an M3 and something like and elise / exige again... and wondered what the DCt system is like - + plus does anyone know where I can rent an M3 for a w/e to see if I like it...

Gizard, I've got a 430 F1 Spider and recently had a go in a DCT M3. I love the Fezza but these new dual clutch gear boxes are the way forward. They are miles better in auto mode than the F1 box when cruising and faster in manual mode when you fancy a blast. M3 doesnt have the drama or sense of occasion of the 430 though. I was looking for a nice daily drive, tried the M3 and Nissan GTR. Went with the GTR in the end, the box is even better than the BMW's and the performance is everything its cracked up to be biggrin I dont think you'll go wrong with a DCT M3 though just dont expect it to perform like the Fezza or give you the same buzz. Happy hunting biggrin

Is the BMW DCT system really that good? - I have heard reports of other dual clutch systems not being that good and the F1 system although different technology (older in theory) still capable of changing faster...

Oh does anyone know if the electronics will allow you to left foot brake or not with the BMW DCT?

The DCT isnt as good as the twin clutch job in the GTR but the changes in both cars are much quicker than the F1 box in the 430. I've driven a Maserati Granturismo S and that has a quicker change than the 430 in Sport mode. Things move on, new tech and all that. Ultimately, the new gen twin clutch boxes are much better at pretending to be auto's and offer much quicker changes in manual. Best way to find out is to try one and see what you think.
