Bloody scrappage scheme!!!!!
Discussion
I though that under the government rules on this bloody scrappage scheme once a car had been traded in under the scheme it HAD to be crushed and the metal recycled as that is the whole point of it.
I think whichever garage have taken this in as scrappage are doing something very illegal by offering it up for sale....
I am probably wrong though :P

No, I don't think you are wrong - unless as the tiv is mainly glassfibre it is kinder to the planet for its parts to be recycled via re-use. I think whichever garage have taken this in as scrappage are doing something very illegal by offering it up for sale....

I don't think anybody has a cat in hells chance of putting it back on the road, legitimately.
It is just a sad day, and it must be worth more than £2k surely - unless the whole truth isn't being stated. MOT failure with outrigger issues, maybe

I was under the impression that the vehicle had to be issued with a certificate of destruction or suchlike - but not necessarily crushed.
My neighbour works at a major Ford dealer, and they have sent a number of vehicles to a local dismantlers to be broken down for parts, although a number of early Focussssseses and a V6 Mondeo have been stripped out, and turned into track-hacks.

Maybe not illegal if the garage has given the previous owner the scrappage allowance on a new car, but not claimed the scrappage allowance from the scheme. The dealership who took it in only get the £1000 g'ment contribution and the £1000+ manufacturer contribition once they have the certificate of destruction and register the deal on the scrappage scheme. I suppose (and I hadn't thought of this loophole until seeing this thread) they have given £2000 off a new car (part exchange if you like), with the S owner assuming his/her car is worth less than this. The dealership are not registering the deal on the scrappage scheme or claiming the Government money, taking their chances on getting £2k plus back on the part ex. Cunning but (I think) in no way illegal. (A tad immoral however IMO, and that's coming from a motor trader !! )

k its not been scrapped properly.
If the rules had been followed properly, that car would HAVE to be crushed. Someones saved it already.
