We're looking at going away over new years, but all on the cottage sites are only doing 7 nights. Really looking at 3 or 4 nights ideally. 4-6 people, hopefully New Forest or Cornwall.

All the big players (English country cottages etc) are 7 nights.

if you can find anywhere they'll be booked already. NYE is my birthday and whenever i've looked into it its usually been this time of year and everything's gone. popular cottages are booked over a year in advance.

you might have better luck in france/spain. bizarrely, it can be much cheaper too, cancelling the cost/hassle of the ferry. just an idea.

if you do find something i'd be interested in hearing how/where

There are plenty of places for 7 nights. They don't seem too pricey for 7 nights away, especially at NYE.

I'm not a big fan of NYE and I have all this time off work, so it seems like a good idea to get away from the drunkards everywhere.

We're now thinking it might be worth paying for the 7 nights and going up for 5 or 6 (or as many as we can do). There will be 4 of us and we can get some nice places for £800, so not the biggest holiday cost.

I phoned up ECC and they said they will only release 4 night breaks 28 days before the date you want, so basically 1st Dec. At which point you'll only get a place if someone cancels.

I've got access to 3 farm houses in the south of France. But, in the middle of nowhere in that temp seems a bit silly. Great for the summer though!

My place is available although it is a static caravan and not a cottage. Close to the New Forest . Would prefer to let for 7 nights but would consider less. See my add in classifieds
