VW Polo 6N2 - Bulb change trouble. Help?

Guys, i feel like a tit asking this. I am finding it a nightmare to change the main beam bulb on the mothers Polo. No manual in site.

Is it a case of fiddling around at the back with a makeshift mirror of some sort or are you to take the whole headlight out? The latter seems a little drastic to me?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

My brother had the same issue with his Polo. Was a broken unit or something. Cost was around £50-60 I think as it's a bumper off job. I hope it's designed like this for safety and not just because they're incompetent.

Spent another little while with it and figured it out, just a little fiddely. Borrowed make up mirror. Priceless!
