Evening all. Haven't been to the 'ring myself (well, I have to watch a race but it's not quite the same), but if I was requiring absolute cast-iron proof that somebody else had been, and actually driven their car on track, is there anything they could show me more conclusive than a simple photo? Probabaly sounds like a daft question, but I'm hoping all shall be revealed fairly soon!

Surely a picture of them driving their car on track - pretty much everyone gets their photo taken by someone and 8 out of 10 people* have a photo from the Karrusell where you can clearly see the driver's face.

That would be fairly conclusive.

* Please note this statistic was made up on the spot

A ring sticker wink

It would be possible to go there and not be photographed on track, but the chance of going to there not getting photo'd on the webcam or round the track is unlikely. A photo is the only real proof, that or someone else seeing them there but I can't se why someone would lie about it?

Ask to see theory paper ticket card and if they say they can't find it or they threw it away, you know they are lying as its now a plastic card lol.

As said above the phoito is the proof but lots of small things like a bove to all add up to a certain yes or no.

But why would anyone would claim to have been when they hadn't?

Clearly you should insist on in-car video with a tub of Bird's Custard duck-taped to the dash.

Thanks for the comments chaps, looks like a photo, combined with a copy of the V5 matching the reg in the photo, will be sufficient then. I know that a simple reg check on the web-cam would be a lot quicker though, do you know what the coverage of the camera is? Very high possibility if you've been on track you will be on the web-cam? What's the address for the web-cam by the way?

Many thanks for your replies. As stated above, I have an idea which I think genuine 'ring drivers will like, so I'm just doing some research on the subject.

The webcam only updates once every minute, so it is actually quite possible to drive several laps without being caught by it. Even then, then quality of the webcam is poor enough to not be able to clearly read reg numbers.

There are a number of freelance photographers that tout for business at the ring by sticking low res photos on their website. If you know the date and the registration there's about a 90% chance you'll find it on one of the sites.

Of course if they went last year or before, they could tell you that the machine ate the ticket on the last lap.

No it's nothing negative I assure you! Thanks for the comments on my car. They're not actually Fuchs but about the closest I could find in 18" diameter!

Does this constitute cast-iron proof?
