Scary high speed braking
Discussion
I just arrived in Copenhagen after a straight through long haul from London,- Probaly the best 13 hours in my life.
Anyway I was going a bit fast at times and I had a seriously scary moment, doing a ton or so in a light curve and I had to brake. The car kind of wobled somewhat and needed some manhandling to stay in the lane. Now I recently had EBC brakes fitted and I know it brakes straight because I drive fast quite often and it always brake straight,- but this was something else, really really scary. My own idea would be that maybe the bushes are sloppy or something,- but I thought you guys might have tried similar?

How fast, how heavy did you brake and how light a curve is a light curve. Braking in any sort of corner will unbalance a vehicle, making it stiffer would compensate but at high speed braking in anything but a straight line will mean some adjustments are to be expected.
Hmn, yeah it might just be me expecting too much from the car. I was doing about 100 mph in a typically soft curve, going from one Autobahn to the other. Then someone pulls out right in front of me, so it was nearly emergency braking. Maybe it was just me being caught by surprise,- I just never tried anything like it. The car just jolted/wobled and then settled down again.
I think I will just pay the money and get some proper calibers now cause that was scary

just kidding
I think the stock soft suspension has a lot to answer for.
I had a guy pull in front of me into the fast lane (empty four lane motorway at 2am!) for no apparent reason when I was coming past him.
Landing on the anchors with a slight swerve almost gave me a heart attack. Much better now with a firmer setup.

I don’t think it’s the pads, any car will try and go abit side ways when doing more than a ton on a bend with the brakes al of a suddenly applied. The cars weight goes forward and the rear goes light and wants to slide around the bend.
I bet that’s all it was.
Although as someone else said better poly bushes will help.

These cars are seriously tyre sensitive.
Check what you are running against the `not on a Monaro list`.

I had this then changed from Falkens to Continental Sport Contact 3's and the handling was transformed. I also have Monkfish's Road Response Pack which improved it somewhat - but the tyres changed it totally.
Cool, thx guys.
Yes, maybe I need to have a few track days and learn to drive this thing in a more safe manner
. Thing is when you gotta stop with nowhere to go- you gotta stop.
I'll def. change the bushes and drop links anyway and get those AP's as well. The tyres a brand new Bridgestone standard fit, bloody expensive as well.

Check tyre pressures!
Not to mention his pants

I have just had AP's fitted and i cant recommend them enough. The car felt dangerous before
but then on a bend at 100 i'm not surprised
You guys that have suggested Monaro's are very "funny" about tyres
We've always had Bridge-stone Potenza. Are they considered good?????????????

My neighbours F430 has them as a standard fit so I cant see them being bad tyres!
