Some of you have used the P7 torches from Dealtime in the past. Well they've started selling a bike specific light now using the same tech to save the faff of procuring your own mounts, charger etc.

How's this. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25149

For $80 you get a 900!!!!! lumen LED in a finned housing, bar mount, Lith battery and charger.

I've bought from these guys in the past and have to say the service was very good.

I need a step up light-wise, been doing red grade trails with a cateye single shot for 2 winters! Looks like eBay time for that hehe

ETA: Notice it's a US style mains charger, it should still work in the UK without overloading? (higher voltages etc)

The clue is in the overview wink :

Accessories Included: 100V~240V AC charger (US plug), Pouch included

All you would need is an adapter plug.

I'm hoping mine will be here this week! Will write a mini report once I have tested them.

Speak of the devil, Mr Posty just delivered them! First impression is very good. Neat packaging, kit seems very robust, positive feel to the switch gear. Light is very bright. Settings are Bright, Dim and pulse. Not very dark at work but will put together something a little more informative later.

Cheers Tim, let us know how you get on - does the pulse mode work on high?

Right, managed to have a bit of a play with them this evening. I've not really got any other high performance lights to compare them with but all I can say is that on high, it is really bright! Even on the dim mode they are really quite impressive. For any normal road work I would suggest that dim is probably more than enough light. High will be saved for hitting the trails. The pulse mode seems to pulse between dim/high, rather than on/off.

My bike is still in the loft so not tested the light on the bike yet, but have a trip scheduled for saturday night so can give proper feedback then. Can also do a comparison with my brothers LED head mounted lamp and his bar mounted halogens.

All in all though, I am very pleased. The quality seems excellent and the output is really great. Presentation is good as the lamp comes in a nice reinforced glossy card box with a magnetic flap, and all the internals sit nicely in some foam with cutouts. They seem to lacking in any paperwork, so no instructions or safety BS (but i actually find that quite a pleasant change!) For the money I don't see there is really anything to rival them, but I guess only time will tell.

Mine arrived yesterday after a 3 week wait ( I think they've been out of stock) , didn't have time to charge them , but went out for a 2 hour ride on full and it lasted fine. For 50 quid ish , I can't knock them , bright, secure, 3 hr run time what else is there to say . I use it for MTB rides and have a Joystick Maxx on the helmet and this on the bars perfect in IMHO . £50!!!! Used a torch style version last winter and its still going strong on the wifes bike .

Took 19 days to arrive.

Battery life is quoted as 3 hours, not sure if that is on dim or high.

This is the first bicycle light I have used that elicits complaints from people on the street. I light to grab the attention of cab drivers but the hostility of pedestrians is a bit too much.
Ordered it on the basis of this alone.
