Hey all

With the R32 what can be done to "up" the performance?

Having looked at Revotek via fontain and AMD both offer less of a power increase than the GTi MK5!! The Gti seems to be easy to increase to over 300bhp but the R32 seems to only gain another 15/20bhp on top of the standard performance!!

Surely being a V6 it can handle more than a turbo'd 2.0l!!!!

Any advice would be welcome as its the only thing stopping me adding that as my daily hack!

Add forced induction and you get crazy power, some are pushing over 600bhp.

Wow - so what would be the best route? Turbo or Supercharger?

Any companies that they seem to prefer using?

Any links to forums where this has been done - be interested to look at the costs.

4 wheel drive with power is much nicer than FWD with lots of power but the GTi with the remaps is cheap to get to over 300bhp.

How would i get it past Mrs Munkeyfeet - i can hear it now - so you buy the RS4 as you wanted a powerful/practical car and you now want an R32 as well. *the R32 arrives* you want to spend how much? to do what to it?

LOL

In recent read-ups I have found that the GTI can be tuned so easily because of its turbo, whereas the R32 is NA so not much room for improvement.

Yep, its quite straight forward....turn everything up on the turbo motor and it'll give you more power (thanks to the extra boost).

On the R32 there's nothing really to turn up, you're just altering the map etc so it wont give huge gains like on a turbo'd engine.

You could start with intakes, exhaust etc etc though. Wont get any big gains though but might free things up a bit for you.

Which do you prefer?

The whine of a supercharger with its seamless delivery, or a turbo with a good old push in the back.

Neither will be a cheap option!!, 350bhp is about the ball park for stage one kits.

I think AMD do them, as I have seen them in the shop before... give them a bell.

if you want to go quicker, i would suggest uprating the brakes and shedding some weight.

Forced induction engines have their boost restricted by the manufacturers to keep them within the confines of tolerances and emissions. It is simply a case of upping this boost to allow more power, usually still well within the tolerances of the components. For this reason, the gti is more tuneable.

If you want to stick with the na engine, then you could go down the route of a freer breathing exhaust, hi flo cats, perhaps an induction kit and some different cams. Add to this a remap and you MIGHT see an increase of 30bhp or so. You need to weigh up the outlay to do this, or the FI route - you are easily talking 5 grand, probably significatly more.

Personally, ive never seen the point in supercharging or turbocharging a car designed to be NA - the easier option would be to buy something designed thus in the first place. Be a shame to dilute the character of that V6 with a supercharged whine or turbocharged whoosh...

I agree and for that reason I think the New S3 is going to be the winner.
