My dad feels we should go away for some father son bonding :S I said yes, sounds fun and a free holiday.

He says we can go wherever. Where in Europe will be different and enjoyable in October?

I took my dad to Tenerife a couple years back. I was about 27 and he was 68 at the time, only downside being that we had to share a twin room.

One night I didn't come back though as I had gone home with a spanish bird. So got back from the walk of shame in the morning to hear his tales of conquest! He had pulled a 40yo milf from the bar in the hotel!

What sort of things is he into? Architecture/food/relaxing/wes/sightseeing/motorsport?

If he's taking the pair of you, it might be nice to pretend to be excited about something he will be excited for.

Busy holidays I find better with my folks. Loafing around can get a little tired after a couple of days.

Lots of options out there, give me a hint!

He is a typical 58yo into the lot.

Just me going. I can't the week they were going, my mum cant do the week we are now going. He picked me instead of her...feel a bit guilty but she insists!

Something relaxing yep adventurous. Only for a few days so thinking of Devon, nice hotel, meals out, lots of walking etc.

I drive all the time, so does he, do want to get somewhere, park the car, then not restart til we leave.

Try the canals of England. Very relaxing, but you'll also keep fit and you'll sleep well after all that fresh air, food and wine!

Devon would be nice, if you like the great outdoors. How about Dartmouth? Very pretty place, some nice places to eat, a good few pubs, water (rent a boat), and you can get out to some delightful coves along the shore (slapton sands) and out on the hills of Dartmoor.. Stay at the Dart Marina. Right in town, right by the water.

I stayed at some stupid place (for a year) where they tried to convince me I was in the Navy. Gave me a sword and everything. Weird.

Well we have decided (or I have and he agrees).

Heading off to northern Italy to experience the Italian lakes, maybe Stelvio pass and all the Italian car manufacturers.

Few questions.

Anyone done anything similar before?
Anywhere good to stay?
I want a interesting car to hire, preferably an Italian. An Alfa convertible takes top choice but a Fiat 500 Abath would be ideal!

Where can I hire one of these from?

Is the Stelvio likely to be open in mid October?

Thanks!
