iPod with Windows 98SE - worth the grief???

My PC at home is still running Windows 98 SE. It works fine, and does everything I need at home so I'm reluctant to incur the cost/hassle of replacing/upgrading it.

Trouble is I want to get an iPod and Apple says they don't work with 98. A quick look at the iPodlounge.com FAQs says it can be done, but you can't use the installer that comes from Apple. They step you through what you have to do, but it sounds a bit complex.

Anyone on here done it? Is it worth doing or is it less hassle to just bite the bullet and upgrade my PC?
