Now we've replaced the telly with a Panasonic 32" LCD I've discovered the VCR doesn't want to play with the new one. So...... Is the above Panasonic a good choice.

Main reasons for choosing :
1) It will be compatible with the TV so programming should be easier and
2) Has got to come from John Lewis as we have some vouchers

Also any bricks and mortar retailers selling this cheaper so I can use the price guarantee to get the price down. The cheapest I've found so far is Richer Sounds @£249

Any hints or suggestions much appreciated

Go for it...or the EX79. Simple to use and reliable

Thanks for that - a stupid question. If you record to the Hard drive is it then possible to burn a DVD of the programme if I wanted to keep it

Yup...Also gives you the choice at recording stage
