Does anyone have any idea where I can source a Holden diff in the UK. The one I'm after is from the Commodore VS. Can find loads on ebay from Australia but the carriage is huge.

Do you mean everything or just some of the internals?

I will be after a diff too, but it'll be a casing for non hydratrak BTR to fit a TVR.

Hmm, its becoming clearer now as I'm guessing you have a monster engine you are fitting into an olde Vauxhall, so will want everything?

Correct, I need a full unit. The standard vauxhall diff is a bit scrawny but while looking at an Aussie Commodore pic I noticed that they share the same rear cradle and it looks very much like the commodore diff will bolt up if the holes are drilled for it on the vauxhall metalwork. The BTR one is a different casing again from either the Vauxhall or Holden variants, that too would be nicely up to the job for me but MUCH more work to make it fit in the cradle.

Would a Monaro / VXR unit from the UK be any good if one could be found from a breakers? Maybe a mention on that area of PH?

Other than importing I can't see a better option (I do have a contact who could be better than ebay price wise, but that doesn't solve the carriage issue. Sorry for that being the limit of my assistance.

Yes, a TVR specific housing, even if the BTR internals are shared with models from Aus. To the best of my knowledge anyway. I have a 3.08 crown / pinion from Aus which I need a BTR casing to use!

Monaro/VXR may fit but I have had no luck finding a picture of one so far. I think that they are all basically the Omega platform under the skin, distateful as that may be to Monaro owners. I'm also told by a well informed source that the rear cradle from the Omega A (AKA Carlton) and the Lotus Carlton will bolt straight up to an Omega B, which would be great if the world was full of folks wanting desparately to get rid of Lotus Carlton diffs smile I did find find one chap who would sell me an LC cradle and diff but I didn't really fancy selling my house to pay for it. I do know that the LC had the Holden version of the diff but with a different backplate as the rear mounts on that diff are to the boot floor rather than a bush either side to the cradle. I would be happy to make a new mount point on the boot floor as the tank has moved into the boot.

The ordinary Omega B diff, with rear mounts either side which bolt upto the subframe and a single front mount

The LC and Holden Commodore diff with 4 bolt holes on top and a single rear mount to the boot floor. The flanges for the 4 bolt fixings exist on the Omega B cradle so it's just the rearmost mount that needs a bit of fabrication.
