I have my canon 350d all well and good.

However i have been offered a HUGE amount of different lenses from a Nikon slr (for free).

Would these fit my camera or is it a case of canon lenses for canon camera... etc etc

'fraid not chap.
I guess you could get a convertor, but I if you can you will lose autofocus and the like.

Happy to be corrected though! smile

Ah ok no worries thought that maybe the case.

Ah well if thats a resounding no I suppose they can go on ebay and use the money generated from them for a useful lens

..or you could by a cheap Nikon body and try 'em out?

Canon / Nikon. Equally good in a like for like comparison, usually.

Depending on what the lenses are and what Canon kit you've got apart from the 350D, I might buy a Nikon body in that situation. Once you understand what all the camera functions do, it won't take long to adjust to the buttons being in a different place on a Nikon.

I wouldn't change my camera make if the reverse was true. In your position I'd sell/eBay the Nikon lenses and use the proceeds to buy Canon ones.

Are they current and desirable lenses, or mouldy old manual stuff that only Beano would be interested in? wink

They have been given to me by an Aunt, her husband (my Uncle) was a very keen photographer and i daresay there is some VERY expensive bits in there.
I believe there is in excess of 10-15 different lenses.

I fear you are going to have to list them here for the interest of the readers smile I'm not that clued up on old lenses - AI, AI-S etc - but doubtless somebody will be able to give you a rough value.

I bet some have the old Nikon 'gunsight' linkage jobbie on the top...

Taking a slightly different tangent here, I am assuming your uncle has recently died?

Perhaps your aunt thinks they are of no worth hence giving to you for free. Personally, I'd find out their worth then help her to sell them as I'm sure with his passing the money may come in useful.

Just a thought... based on an assumption.

She says they are worth something but wants me to benefit from it.

basically she doesn't need the money (her words not mine)

She said to see if they would fit on my camera if not sell them and get something nice.

Yes I will get her a big bunch of flowers and a box of choccies smile

Sorry to hear about your uncle.

I would certainly have a look at them, prehaps consider a convertor to mount on the canon.

Is there a body too? Usualy odd to have just lenses, if its film fire off a few rolls see how you get on!

Can always pick up a nikon later if its worth it to use the lenses properly.
