Anyone know this car??

Hi all,

Been looking into buying a T350 for a little while, and was looking at this one before. Thought I'd post it up to see if anyone knows anything about it or can shed any light on its history?

Also the other thing is the engine rebuild by austec. I have been advised away from austec and after searching and talking to a few people etc, still cant work out why they are so bad or why some people have had bad experiences?

I have never heard anything negative about Austec's work. They did work on both my TVRs.

Well its been on the classifieds before, about 2 weeks ago. Its also now on TVRCC classifieds, so does that mean he is a member on there? I emailed him to ask for the reg etc so I could Hpi it (havent yet) which he sent me although he wasn't that inclined to tell me much more about the car. One to avoid possibly?

Been keeping an eye on that myself... something just doesn't stack up about it. I'd imagine it might not be in the best of conditions, or been in an accident and repaired (like a BMW CSL I was about to look at recently that seemed good but very cheap... was a repair jobby).

Contacted owner and got similar 5 word response to a -please enlighten- mail. Either really bad at communicating or something fishy, just doesn't feel right... and with all the options out there, it's not worth the risk.

Phew! I'm pleased you're all detecting some fishiness as I really don't want to hear of T350's so cheap! When mine goes I want a fair wodge of cash to replace it with something half decent... and of course jolly sensible and family friendly!

Best to stay clear of it then, and look else where.

With TVRs theres one old adage that is normally true - A cheap TVR is usually cheap for a reason, on the rare occasion you'll be lucky enough to find an owner desperate to sell their P&J for financial reasons and grab a bargain. On the other hand PH is littered with tales of people showing off their bargain buys only to come back a month or so later crying that they've bought a moneypit!

Hi Dan, why not ask him if you can have an independent inspection done on the car to see what needs fixing (if anything) Then if he agrees, contact one of the TVR specialists (loads in Sprint magazine) and ask them if they can take a look at the car. It may cost you a little initially but you could end up saving a lot of money. Once you have the report, (and if you decide not to buy) you may even be able to sell it to the car owner to help facilitate and inform other buyers.

Cheers for the replies. This will be my course of action with any T350 I buy. I will be getting it inspected by either Racing green or dave at "the garage". I realise I am looking at the lower end of the market, and this is why a full inspection is the way i'd go. Any idea how much they are? havent enquired yet.

No idea but i'm sure the guys at RG will help you out and give you a competitive quote on A) What the general condition of the car is and B) How much it would cost to get what ever needs doing (if anything) sorted.

Have you asked the owner is he a TVRCC or PH member?

I haven't.. Didn't actually think of that, was kind of hoping he would pop up or someone will have heard of him. lol.
