Hi folks,

I'm thinking of buying this GTV for my daily drive:

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/ALFA...

Its an 1996 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2.0 TS 16V 2dr Coupe with 37 000 on the clock and on for £1950.

The owner tells me its a nice car but has two faults firstly the heater only works on setting 4 and also the air con doesn't work. Any idea how much these would cost to fix and also what do you think about the overall price?

Thanks

Jake

Air con could be anything from a re-gas to a new pump.

Any history/past MOT's to prove the mileage? Still seems like a lot of money to me, considering its one of the first and a phase 1.

Also make sure the cambelt has been done, its due every 3 years or 36k (whichever comes first)

Heater blower is likely to be the resistor pack, close to the blower motor, passenger side footwell, £50? for a replacement and 20 mins to replace. Helps if you are a contortionist..

check the rear suspension bushes and check them again to make sure!! to gauge your price, i paid £1000 (mates rates) for a 1997 2L Tspark with 85k on it with full history.

i would think £1500 is a more realistic goal!

i've had mine 4months now and put 6k on it. Its a really good car BUT it is one that needs tlc, just simple things like checking coolant and oil on a weekly basis at the least, as i do alot of miles i check mine twice weekly!
