You have to secure your visa in advance now, rather than just filling in a form on the plane.

NO !!!!!

That's a 3rd party site that takes money from you for no benefit whatsoever.

Just use the real site. It's easy and free.

There are lots of these dodgy sites either offering worthless guides or offering to do the "work" for you. Crooks the lot of them.

You need a visa waiver. It's free;

Did it myself to travel to Boston a bit back.

You do know that New York is in the United States right?

You can't drive there either it's across the Atlantic ocean you see. You need to book a flight on an Aeroplane or buy a ticket for some kind of boat. Don't buy a train ticket to York as that's not the same place.

Do you have a passport?

You need a passport also.

I did this last night. Found 3 sites (higher up the page on google) who wer trying to charge between £12.50 & £50.00 for this. It's a scam. Use the above ^^ link for the official free site!

Thanks for this great advise

The last time I went they handed them out on the plane.

Thanks to you all for the advise wife came off the phone in a flap, and I just told her I knew all about and was sorting it.

Thanks again

I used the offical esta site and still had to fill a green card on the plane

this was last week however does not mean that you should do not the online one, they may be checking one against the other.

That's right - you do still do the on-plane bit too.

And the form on the plane is an I94 - not to be confused with a green card!

You'll also still need to complete a Customs Declaration (one per family living at the same address) too

And you can do your ESTA thingy up to 48 hours before arrival I believe.

It can be done on the day of departure also despite what the website says. (I did one for a Customer as he was on the way to the airport....he'd forgotten!)

Best NOT to leave it until then though in case there is a query on the application.

Yes now you have to apply a minimum of 3 days before you go I think, but it's on record for a few years so If you go a lot you don't have to constantly reapply.

Oh and you still have to fill out the green forms on the plane.

i wonder how much they actaully check over the questions they ask and what sort of records they have to check up on possible convivtions and arrests.

If you were arrseted for being drunk and disorderly do you have to fill in yes you've been arrested or just keep quiet

You have to declare any convictions that involve 'moral turpitude'; there is a list here:

Going off that, I'd say no - unless you potted someone as well wink .

I'm thinking about NYC for NYE this year, is the application all on-line now?
Assuming just passport number / NI Number and Submit?
