To the guy on the 05 registered bike who overtook me on the A803 near Banton today, about noon, take care, if you continue to ride like that someone will be getting the gift of organs from you. (Please make sure that you have registered your wishes).

As well as overtaking on unsighted S bends - twice, you proceeded to undertake a left turning lorry with a trailer in Kilsyth, overtook in a 40 limit at a pedestrian crossing in Queenzieburn, then ignored every speed limit going until Kirkintilloch, where you rushed towards your impending doom.

You are not a genius, you are an idiot, whose luck will run out. (By the way the orange things on your bike can be used to advise other road users of your intentions, though from the way you ride you don't give a s**t about anyone else.)

I just ask one thing - try not to take anyone else with you when the inevitable happens.

Sadly no I just finished a shift. The spelling was just down to sloppy typing.

Been on and around bikes all my life, on and off road, have a friend who is a Police instructor, and lost a friend due to his need for speed.

I also have a relative who's first job as a fireman was to look for a motorcyclists head after a crash.

If he was driving so dangerously and so fast how were you able to observe him for over 16 miles?

The usual in this part of the world, roadworks, pedestrian crossings, tractors. (It's about 8 miles actually, presumably you don't know the route well?)

A good point though, surprisingly by not driving like a c**k, I was able to keep him in sight for 8 miles.

You've probably heard this before elsewhere. Staff in casualty departments refer to bikers as "Organ Donors". I bought myself a bike 3 years ago after a 25 year absence, it was sold again a few weeks later. Had to admit I was getting on and the inevitable was going to happen sooner or later. I was amazed at the difference in performance from earlier bikes. Just off to find my slippers !

I think in fairness that we have all had one of the moments where we've overtaken somebody on a particularly nice road, roared off (at the speed limit) only to get stuck at temporary roadworks and the cars you passed all trumble into view and stop behind you with disapproving looks. Or conversly, weve all sat behind a pratt thats done it to us only to catch them at the lights and smirk thinking to yourself "where did that get you eh? to**er!" (notice were not tossers, just enthusiasts.

In fairness to the biker, he may well be, and probably is a prize tw+t BUT, and its a big but, bikes have a nasty habit of turning decent blokes into maniacs. I had bikes for about 5 yrs and they are the devils work, I can remember thinking to myself "you took a chance last time, screw the nut and have a decent ride today its not worth it, would I?, 10mins in it would be knee down (sometimes with a mate on the back) and moto gp sunday, only to get home and feel like a prize dick once the adrennalin wore off. Luckily I had the sense to sell mine beofre the law or fate came calling.

Its not big and its certainly not clever but you imagine having the self control to take your favourite lambo, fezza etc out and never stretch its legs? The sad bit is, that guy will almost certainly end up in casualty (if he's lucky), or straight to the morgue (if hes not). Some might say he deserves it, me, i'd rather he got a small fright, enough to slow him down before he does anybody or himself any harm. He may save himself and you wont need to wish some poor kid/wife to be losing a father/partner.

PS Im not condoning his behaviour, far from it. I'm off know as this is far too heavy for morning chat.

Hi, yes we have all done that, that is part of life, what got to me was the continued bad riding, and how would the lorry driver have felt if he had crushed the bike and rider when he turned left?. He was signalling, positioned properly, how do you allow for some suicidal t**t cutting up the inside in your blind spot?

The other point is that he wasn't riding at the speed limit, he was consistently overtaking in 30 and 40 zones, not just at NSL sections.

If you haven't got the self control to use the machinery you have safely and appropriately, you shouldn't have it, whether it be a bike, car or gun.

yes

However, the ones that don't have this self-control are just following Darwin's model of evolution and doing humanity a favour. Hopefully though, when they do, they do it by themselves and don't involve anyone innocent!

I've got several mates with bikes and point blank refuse to bow to their suggestions that I do my test and buy one too. Not through a worry over my own self-control, more just the worry of becoming an inadvertent organ donor through the poor behaviour/respect of other road users to bikes.

my pet hate, amongst all the other sins. 30-40 limits are there to protect the kids and let people feel safer. some little c**k in my village has overtaken me twice in the 30, yes i was doing 30. I will report if he does it again. But its often a reminder that makes these things stick out. i was ploughed down by a post lorry when i was 6, fractured skull, he was speeding, but i didnt look either. I was lucky, for that reason alone I abhor speeding/ fast overtakes in a 30, the risk is so much greater.
