As per title really, everyone comes across them. So what have YOU ever brought from a cold caller?

I would expect that the hit rate is about 5%, so expect to see that proportion of purchases.

My parents once tried to buy double glazing from a cold caller (they'd been meaning to get some windows replaced but not got round to it). I think they gave up in the end as the salesman never showed up.

Sky+, I was waiting for them to call to offer it for free, this was a while back when they used to charge £150 or so.

Aha, but I have been a 'cold caller' (B2B) and targets have spent many tens of thousands of pounds... but my motivation is (1) I love what I do (2) if nobody buys anything, my annual salary is £0.00pa. Focuses the mind somewhat, especially when you bear in mind that self-employed people are effectively immune from State aid, sickness leave yadada.

I actually tried to get a quote for double glazing once from a cold caller (who was selling double glazing), for 8 flats. They said they'd call me back because they'd have to speak with a manager. Needless to say I never heard from them again. We ended up paying out more than £40k between the 8 of us to someone else.
