I understand, a broad, personal/subjective question. Figured the manufacturer would be one covered by this section of the forum. I`ve had Caterhams and Ducatis, done the track day stuff and now want something to get (very) excited about. Can`t get too enthusiastic about 911`s and it won`t be used on a daily basis. I only have two on the list at present covered by my maximum budget circa £110K....F430 and Gallardo...thanx.

If you've had Duc's and caterham's then an F430 or Gallardo are going to seem tame. Go with the Gallardo you know it makes sense.

If I were working on your budget right now I would attempt to get one of these :

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1114506.htm

I think it gives you a fighting chance of not losing money and possibly even coming out on top over time.

Obviously I am looking at this from a performance/financial perspective but it's funny how hosing £30k can sour an ownership experience pretty quickly !!

Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide upon.

Both of those are great ideas; the GT as said won't lose you a load of money and still be an event whenevr you get into the driving seat.

The CS will be a bit more like the Caterhams and be good fun to get out on the track in.

I'd buy the Gallardo SL in the classifieds for that.

If I were you I would be looking at the Gallardo, the 430 just isn't as pretty and lets be honest that's very important.

If it isn't going to be an everyday driver I would go with whatever makes you the most excited. F430s/Gallardos are awesome but aren't special enough to me; I'd rather have a 355 *and* a 550 for the price of a 430, for instance. I'd take a Murci/Diablo over a Gallardo too.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. My understanding is that whilst Ferrari and Lamborghini are more reliable than of old, when they do go wrong it can be costly so, as exciting as the suggested cars are, I was thinking of a late, low mileage car with a big chunk of warranty. Also, given the current climate and the fact that the F430 is no longer in production due the 458 I was assuming dealers may want to shed 430 stock and there maybe a deal to be had and hence ease the "hit" on me..........wishful thinking??.....wrong approach????

It's swings and roundabouts really because if you got a discount to "ease the hit", then the cars going to be worth less in about a year anyway, so I'm afraid if you want a 430 your going to get hit.

Why? - Why not, just look at it.....

Diablo 6.0
Why? - Best looking Lambo in my opinion, and they're not depreciating!

As pointed out earlier, i'd go for the Diablo 6.0 in your case. Pretty steady value, might even go up. Quite solid, brilliant to drive (at least my 5.7 is biggrin )

Corvette ZR1?

Not the same exotic appeal I know but you can't argue with the performance, and at £109k you can't argue with the price.....

Don't listen to the ' I would buy this old smoker' gang..

Buy a very good example of a 6.0 Diablo...

That is all.
