Griff's near Horley?

Hi all, Thinking about taking the plunge for a Griff 500 but I need to drag the missus to take a look at one in the flesh as if she really doesn't like the interior/legroom/etc then I'm wasting my time.
Are there any Griff 500 owners in Horley/Gatwick area that wouldn't mind just letting her take a look and a seat to see if it passes the first test?
No funny comments about a new wife etc please, the Griff would be my main car so its important she's happy to go in it.

I would suggest visiting Austec at Crawley, but the chances of finding a Griff that was anywhere near 'standard' are slim!!

I work out of Gatwick and would be happy to meet up, but the old girl still has her dash in curlers so may not pass the wife test in her current state.

If the legroom is the major issue, the limiting factor is the location of the battery in footwell.

This can be altered to give about 3” more legroom by changing the battery and battery box. Or you can relocate the battery to the boot.

Also, there was a Griffith LE model, the last 100 Griff’s made. These had a different interior, so if your wife doesn’t like the interior, show her an LE. One word of warning though, the LE commands a price premium. So don’t show her one unless you need to.

Funnily enough there is an LE at Nutley sports which is very close and very expensive, I might drag her over to that but make sure she understands the seats are different etc.

I went round to where I thought Austec were but either they have moved or I've got a shocking memory, I'll get their address from the website and pop over there in the next couple of days.

sumoone, Thanks, I'll let you know if I want to do that.

Onto another question, the Griff would be my main transport although it wouldn't be getting used daily it will live on the drive with a suitable cover. It will get used in all weathers and that worries me a little, am I mad to use one in all weathers? how are the roofs for leaks?

My Griffith is my everyday driver regardless of weather,and have had no problems,not much in the way of leaks either.

Must say though,that if there were a few of inches of snow on the ground I might be phoning around for a lift,but maybe that's just because I'm a wimp lol

Well I can answer my own question now, there is a Griff in Horley, Mine
Picking it up a week saturday from Fernhurst. I dragged the wife along for a test ride and whilst the leg room wasn't great, she came back from the test drive with the dealer Drew with a huge grin on her face and loved the car, she even forced me to spend more money than I wanted too!!
In fact I think she is more excited than me about picking the car up next week, first time that's ever happened.

Well done - post a picture of your new car.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Take say a month to fully get used to the car .. they do like to spin the rear wheels when you really put a lot of power down .. so two hands are often needed on the wheel for those moments.

I'll keep an eye out for you in Horley, I've seen the odd chimp around, although since Mole Valley went under there's been a noticable decline in TVR's around the area.
