Audi TT R8.....

For the second time in as many days an audi TT has driven past me with an R8 "replica" bodykit.

All I can say is it looks utter st, and im annoyed at myself that I wasn't quick enough to take a pic either times!! No doubt I will encounter this abomination sometime soon and I am determined to get a snap.

Who goes to such lengths to make their car look so bad? The crazy thing is the kit probably cost the earth in the first place..

A quick google and I saw a kit advertised for £8000...the amount it costs to ruin an already good looking car!

Agreed in full, I saw one in Aberdeen in white, hideous, 8 grand??? You can by a damned niced car for that!!

I don't even like that 2-tone colour on a real R8. If i was ever to buy one i want one in silver, without those silly black bits.

I agree although those badges probably cost nearer 50p outside of halfords so i'd go with 16,000 times worse.

You were annoyed at yourself that you didn't take a pic, even though you find them so hideous??

I can only assume that it is so you can post it on here and then you can feel good that everyone agrees with you and supports your opinion? Is that not a little sad?

You don't like them, thats fine, they imo also don't look very nice. But to go to the effort of taking pics purely so you can slag it off on a public forum is also imo a bit sad.

Someone else's car, someones elses money...etc etc...

The other way of looking at it, is by puting a photo on here, other TT owners might not make the same mistake. IMO, it's a mistake to pretend to be something that you're not. The R8 has huge airvents at the back of the car as it's midmounted, and to put these on a front engined TT, looks ridiculous.

The proportions are all wrong when done on a TT...it just ruins an already icon shape.

It annoys me that people come out with the their car their money cop-out. This is an internet forum. Virtually the only thing you will ever see on here is opinions, because that's what forums are for - discussions. What sort of world would we be in if we were only permitted to quote facts? Where would be the fun if we all just live and let live? What would be the point if someone posted this OP, and everyone just said "well I quite like it", "well i would not buy this, but it is their money so they can do what they want". Do you want a robotic society of a sparse choice of limiting and pre-vetted opinions pigeonholed and selected from the book of PC? Vocalising and expressing opinions are what separate us from animals. Animals that buy ste and stick it to their cars!!

I agree, the TT was and still is a beautifuly proprtioned and detailed car.
That is exactly why I have made subtle changes to mine so that it looks standard but has a wider track and is lower - these mods and other performance mods are functional of course.

I think you might have misunderstood the R8esque bodykits though.
They are R8 inspired styling rather than people trying to emulate a replica R8 from a TT

I don't like all the fins and vents either, looks a bit daft IMHO.
The whole concept of the TT was a beautiful rounded and smooth body so why spoil it?

Some of the kits are quite nice though, some of the Reiger kits for example.
