A couple of years back I was organising a Charity track day at Cadwell Park, which whilst not cheap, meant that a decent return could be made for the charity.( lindsey lodge hospice). Unfortunately the event never got to take place, as the number of attendees never reached the magical 30 and therefore the overheads wouldn't have been met.

So I know trackdays have become more popular and more expensive, but I'm phoning around trying to find a venue that without any profit would mean that a club of 35 cars could get a track day that would equate to around £100 max. ( We've been hiring Llandow for the last few years - and that worked out at £40 per car )

So imagine my surprise to hear that the quote for Cadwell has risen in two years to Three times the amount for a mid week whole day booking with minimal organiser input !!!

So - does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives in the middle of the country that would work out in this price range ?

Not exactly middle of the country, but Teesside Autodrome is pretty cost effective, working out <100 quid generally.

Better for smaller cars but good fun.

Why not speak to one of the larger TD organisers and state your cause, if you can guarantee a good number of cars to them.

Cadwell has changed beyond recognition in terms of pricing since my firts track day there. It used to cost 350 GBP to hire the circuit and the ambulance.

Had to provide your own marshalls though.

17.50 a car, and we used to struggle to get 20 cars !!

how long ago was that. Do you mean 17 pounds and 10 shillings?

I understand it's around £1000 an hour to rent a track like Cadwell. More for Silverstone, Donington, Oulton etc.

It was indeed 1984. Well done MrsS. 17 pounds 50 pence and 1000 quid (as a result of running out of talent) for a new front for the Griffith as I recall.....

speak to these guys:

http://www.trackaction-online.co.uk/

my contact there is Steve. They are a not for profit trackday organiser and a top bunch. I have a suspicion they would like to get involved in something your proposing.

No Rich it was tarmac but wet and a driver not enough ability to get round Park sideways in a 350bhp short wheelbase Griff with 15 year old tyres!!

15 year old tyres eek

I thought Yorkshiremen were the tight ones not paying for new rubber, John,
or were you running them until they became slicks ready for racing? LOL

There is a fine line between skint and tight. I dont know which side I'm on as I'm tight, but always seem to be skint...
