Large electrical 'module' under dash?

Was guddling around with my hand through the drop-down hatch behind the hand-book pocket yesterday (trying to find the dash-top penny washer I'd just dropped ) and could feel in there (to the right, below the dash deck) a largish finned box with wiring attached. It feels much like an amplifier or rectifier or something but doesn't seem an obvious place for such. Not fastened down but 'floating' like most essential stuff in a Tiv seems to. Wot-is-it?? Wossitdoo?

Nope...alarm is on dash deck. This thing is directly below (on a parallel 'hidden' shelf). Now wondering if it is the radio antenna amp...
