Umm...Vacheron is considered to be one of the ultra-elite high end top of the world highest respect watch companies in the world. If I'm not being clear enough, they're one of the absolute best watch brands that exists.

The top 3 watchmakers are pretty widely accepted to be PP, AP and VC.

Strange, in my reading of this sub-forum, never heard VC mentioned before..

Nor have I. I have quite a few watch books at home though in which they are heavily featured.

Hmm.. not sure I agree there friend. Patek and Vacheron on their own, then AP, Breguet not far behid ... A Lange & Sohne and Blancpain waaaayyy down the list ... Rolex somewhere below that.

Just my view.

Me thinks someone is trying to start a debate...

AL&S and AP are up there. Breguet is close w/ Blancpain and a few others, but rolex doesn't even make the top 20 in my book.

I wouldn't put Rolex that far down - disregard the cheesy ads, supply control, price fixing and the other mechanisms of the business and you're left with a few well built watches with a proprietry movement that last for generations. But I agree that they aren't up there with the likes of Patek, Breguet etc.

Rolex aren't known for complications which big league collectors seem to be keen on. Simply being rugged isn't enough.
