Gallardo...Fire = Fire Brigade & lots of tears..!
Discussion
This thread may help : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Gear 12/7 - Burning Gallardo
From what I have read sounds quite rare to happen on a later car - 2007.
Hope all goes well with it.

No idea how I have managed to delete the topic, but if anyone takes a look, basically the Gallardo went up in a puff of smoke and I was asking if anyone had experienced similar or had any advice etc....
Again thanks for the replies, very much appreciated.
The picture of the R8 looks nasty.

Glad everyone was ok,
unfortunately it's just something that happens to sportscars these days and it's easier to get photos of the result on phones so people think it's more common
Here are a few others

Usually fire from engine bay is because there is a pipe that link between the fuel and engine. Many people / service may moved it and losen it a bit. For me, i will check that pipe everytime i refuel or parked the car.
No.Fuel would not ignite like that - it has been discussed many times and this is a hydraluic fluid issue. Doesn't change the outcome though

Chaps
Many thanks for all the info...
Having been in constant touch with Lamborghini, I have been informed that the throttle body failed...but what I am failing to understand is how the hell that caused a fire.
Am I right in understanding that the throttle body merely controls the air flow through the intake manifold, before meeting up with the fuel, via the injectors, which is a closed loop system. So what the frig was there to catch fire if the throttle body failed...surely this would just mean a stuck valve either stopping air getting through or letting air constantly flow through????
Anyway, the Regional European Manager from Lamborghini is flying in from Italy to meet with me Thursday.
Do I sense a cover up job or am I just being cynical??
One thing, what has happened to the owners of other Gallardo's that have caught fire? If there are any out there reading this, what was the outcome? What did Lamborghini say or do?
Cheers
