Finally after lurking for several years, I've put my money where my mouth is and purchased a VXR8 6.2
It's an Auto - as I missed all the manuals by a few weeks (unless you like red ones) - but having driven it, I'm happy with the Auto - plus the fact that I can delve into the TCM with HP Tuners appeals to me also.

Sort of - but I intend to remap the gearbox - The fact that the tools seem to be available to do that was what closed it for me.

I run a built 700-r4 on my weekend toy and that thing shifts quicker than a quick thing, you need both hands on the wheel when that thing is on full-tilt - not messing around grabbing for gears.

+1.

What's the weekend toy?

Don't listen to Stig, he's got the hump because he bought a poxy manual. The auto is a superb box and lends itself well to tuning. The sequential change mode can be made very slick. (If you do want to be grabbing for gears, that is - but quicker)

Welcome to the fold chap.

eliot`s toy is not slow I`d say..... and the body roll adds a completely new dimension to speed

(Having been out in it driving)

Bring it along to Thunder Road on the 18th Oct....(The VXR8 that is.....)

The auto is more economic than the manual. Better official MPG figures etc.

I've bought one too, a VXR8 6.2 LS3 Auto in Heron White, pick it up next week. The brakes steering etc are miles ahead of my old Ro, but not the looks, which I traded (06 Reg big boot Impulse CV8), I'll be sorry to see her go, but not her brakes! Looks like I'll have to change my name.
