The other night like many on here, I watched the 102 minutes that changed America program about the attacks on the world trade centre, and noticed there to be an amazing amount of advert breaks in it, I just assumed that this was because it was a program that would garner large viewing figures

However, Last night I watched "Grizzly man" in a similar time slot, and the number of advert breaks made it unwatchable! Did anyone else see this? I was sure at one point that in the space of 30 minutes there were actually 3 breaks?!

Edit - Just looked on IMDB and its a 103 minute program... and C4 gave it a 130 minute slot!

Madness!

you're right, between 12am and 1am there were 5-6 ad breaks. At one point, shortly after 12am there was literally only 5 minutes of programme between the adverts.

It's ridiculous, they're also the only channel which seems to run '60 min' shows for an extra 5-10mins lately so they can squeeze in yet more ads.

I watched the 102 minutes show too (on Sky+ so I 'flashed' through the adverts) but I agree there were too many breaks.

Probably a result of decreased ad revenue due to the credit crunch/recession.

Welcome to America smile

It's been like that over there since the dawn of TV.

We were watching Chuck on Virgin the other day (luckily recorded on V+) and we felt there was an extra break squeezed in compared to what there used to be.

A few years ago an hr program traditionally had 3 ad breaks, I know this increased a while ago to 4 but I'm sure some have more then this these days. Didn't think to actually count them so will try and do that next time.
