Why is it so hard to make? confused

It just ends up looking like cement, no matter how much I change the amount of milk/porridge ratio.

Is there a secret I am missing of should I just eat it raw, like one mouthful of porridge then a mouthful of milk?

Read the packet! Mine used to be crap.

Now it's 4:1 milkredfaceats, 60secs microwave, stir, 60 secs microwave. Job done.

(you might need a bit more milk depending on oats).

Depends on whether you have the instant type of oats or not I guess....One looks like reddie brek, the other is what I'd call "porridge"

Anyway my method is - 1 1/2 cup oats to about 3 cups skimmed milk, nuked for 3 mins until it threatens to over spill the top of the bowl, then let it stand for at least 3 mins after nuking, finally adding extra milk to the consistency desired. Or you could make them really thick initially and add a low-fat fruit yoghurt in after - that is very nice.
