Maybe I am missing something, but isnt a bathurst just a £2,700 aftermarket kit that can be fitted to any VXR8. Nothing complex and no engine or exhaust mods, so the dealers can sell anyone a 'Bathurst' as long as they have a VXR8 and the kit in stock.
I thought it was just the 'S' that needed something more involved.

to 'bathurst' a VXR8 it goes to Walkinshaw where it gets stripes, plaques, upgraded calipers, adjustable shock and spring kit for £2700
on top of that if you want a 'Bathurst S' you add a 564bhp supercharger option for £7000
additionally there is the option of 20" wheels for £1.5k (now sold out) and a bimodal exhaust for £1200
ergo the original link shows a well overpriced car. one of the new £23k cars could one with everything for £34,500.
the above can only officially be performed to a new car as the removed components which I suspect offsets the saving offered

Seems to be a bit of mis-information in this thread. The Bathurst and Bathurst S are limited editions converted by Walkinshaw based on the standard VXR8. Each one has an individual plaque on the dash and are available in all four of the standard VXR8 colours:- white, black, red and grey.
All the bits less the plaques and badges are available separately including the supercharger so someone could build a "fake" if they were that way inclined!

ahem my post below was 100% accurate. For your information there have been no white cars left for some timeAll the bits less the plaques and badges are available separately including the supercharger so someone could build a "fake" if they were that way inclined!
they appear to be limited editions only due to those prepared to wait 7-8 weeks for workshop availability, fyi there is no stict limit

I never mentioned white cars in particular, all I said was that the Bathrust was based on all the standard colour cars, which due to the fact there is only a finite number already and as no more are coming into the country, subject to availability. The fatc that there are no white cars left is by-the-by.
Sorry to sound picky but I also dont remember saying that they were to be built in strict numbers. They are however still a limited edition model.

Sorry, I think Bennno is correct. A limited edition has a specific total number being produced at the outset. Individual specimens are typically numbered as X of Z. Don't care as I am very happy with my "Bathurst 02", in white which IMHO is the best.
Was asked by the dealer if I wanted to sell it as he had a buyer who wanted a white one, he said all manual cars are now gone from VX stock and no more to come in, may be good for prices if this is correct info.
Andy.

the bimodal exhaust costs more than that
but your right about the new car only option .the price for that bathurst is not bad .a while one would be loads more.;)I didnt realise they shipped them back, why do they do that for the basic package as it shouldnt be difficult to fit? I can only think it must be about keeping them 'official', but seems to add a lot of time and effort.
Got to agree though, if you want the stripes it looks best in white.
