Just bought an R32 mk 4.

What are best mods - was thinking or remap and Milltek. Feels as if it has a bit of flat spot in places despite a recent service.

What would yo do for £500, what would you do for a grand (most I'd throw at it).

Grateful for any advice,

Thanks

Scott

Map and Milltek are the way to go but don't expect much power gain as it's a NA engine. 15-20bhp if you are lucky but will make it more responsive. That's as far as your £1k will go.

To get decent power gains you need to go down the expensive supercharger/turbocharger route.

Spot on thumbup

£500 gets you a Haldex HPP controller which will remove a great deal of the understeer. It would also get you a cat-back Milltek which sounds the b0ll0cks but won't give any more power without a remap (£350ish)

Sorry, don't know of any tuners in your area, unless you are prepared to cross the Pennines...

I'd go Supersprint exhaust.

I would 100% get a exhaust system for more audio from that amazing V6 bellow :-)

If the throttle response is sluggish at low revs in second or third, the car may not have the '6463'revised map from VW. Used to be available as a free warranty upfrade from VW, but getting harder to get the dealers to do these days. Upgrade sorts out the flatspots and (reputedly) ups the power by 10bhp to match the MkV R. Not a problem though if you're going to remap anyway.
