Roof up for regulation or faster ?

Actually you go much faster after 90 mph. I was up against an identical 350i wedge on Duxford airstrip and we were dead even up to 80 mph, then he started pulling ahead. The difference was that he had his roof up.

Cars do race top down, so can't see that being a problem. Yes, probably for speed, and smoother air over the spoiler.

Maybe he was a smoker ?
