Hi all, just thought i'd spare a little time to review what I think is some very thorough work done on my 98R 500.

After initally calling Tom about a heavy clunking noise on gearchange (you may remember my previous thread) Tom identified knackered gearbox mounts and set about replacing them. At my behest, I also mentioned some oil leaks that i'd like sorting, as well as some injectors which i had bought a long time ago might as well be fitted.

After all that, I got the inevitable "would you like me to check the cam?"

Well at 49K it's worth a look surely....

So it stacked up like this.

Kent 214 complete kit with new double springs and followers
Fully rebuilt and reconed heads
Bosch high flow injectors
Necessary gaskets and seals

Well I must say Tom has done a fantastic job with the needed work, but has also replaced many sundrie items he spotted during the build, like fuel hose behind the heads, new friendlier exhaust manifold bolts and other circlips and ties that often would just be reused by other indys.

Also got a sneaky chance to give the engine bay chassis rails a little love whilst the engine was down to just a block. It now matches my outriggers nicely!

+1 TH works!

great job.. looks nice... worth also doing the white metal bearings on the crank at that milage.. my car has 45K on it and they have just been done.. two big ends down to copper and I've seen it at least twice before on engines of this milage... .only £100 for the bits... but could save your crank!!

My Griff was just finished by Tom and he did a great job. Many people were telling me just to change the cam and pay £800, but if I'd done that I wouldn't have found the source of the cam wear (valve guides). I ended up going with Tom's suggestion of get the head reconditioned at the same time, and it was absolutely worth it.....and excellent value too.
