Send Gold by post

Just seen an advert that says put your unwanted gold in a bag and send it off to them in an envelope. They will then send you a cheque LOL.

I would guess the pre paid envelope is for SPECIAL DELIVERY e.g. insured /next day 1st class..

I wonder if they take advantage of the fact that most people will be unable to weigh their treasure accurately enough to know if it has 'lost' a few gramms when it arrives. I feel sorry for anyone mug enough to send this off when they will only get scrap price and may get offered more from a jeweller who may resell it and might offer more on that basis.

You're a cynical lot. How is this any different to popping an old mobile in the post for sixty quid? It's not as if anyone is going to be sending in the Crown jewels. It's just going to be low value items that aren't worn or needed anymore, Oh, and nicked stuff of course

Dunno how these will work but I have sent two old phones to Mazuma and I had the cheque in my had two days later. Though with the phone you do place a sell order with them and they know what you are sending rather than a bag of old gold - just get it weighed in at a jewelers/pawn(sp?) brokers much safer imho.

What folk send them assorted unregistered gold unrecorded and they send out a cheque for a tenth of its value as it was fake gold

I'd rather get it valued at my local Jewellers, I'd trust them a lot more. The ads do say you can refuse the offer and they'll return the gold but I still wouldn't do it. (Nothing to do with the fact that I don't have gold to send off in the first place!!)

It's funny you should say that, as a mate of mine runs nearly 100 buy-your-gold stalls in shopping centres up and down the land.

Consequently, I would say that the postal service option would struggle to be less honest than its alternatives when it comes to paying the correct monies.
