Great result from Dean, our handicap class means only 2 runs, one practice one and one official, Dean got in the 12's on both. I on the other hand f
ked em both
big wheelspin on the first run and then bogged down on the second trying to avoid big wheelspin...2 runs and couldn't even break into 13's on either
Dean did arrive with a secret weapon however and they came with 888 markings... the fappin cheat

Cheers all it was a blast, those tyre's help alot I must admit once you light em up they stick like s
t to a blanket.
Rick I think the times are slow because its a public road used once a year for the trials, unlike "proper" drag strips that are fully rubbered up.
I would have expected quicker times owing to the power to weight ratio of these cars.

Have run mid 11's on dry pavement using street tune & only 14lbs boost
The truck weighed in at 2600kg or there abouts, used drag slicks on rear.
This was at Shoreham airport in 2007
There is a RWYB at Santapod this coming Saturday, anyone up for an early morning shakedown subject to weather?
Will be there early and then leaving at midday to go watch the rugby.

Hmm
0 - 60 footers in the 2's ???
1/4 mile times in the high 11's - Slow then
Suggest you give it a go yourself next year, see how you get on? It is not fair to compare these times with those at a drag strip, there are several differences.0 - 60 footers in the 2's ???
1/4 mile times in the high 11's - Slow then
This event is run as a sprint and the start is measured over 64 Ft not 60 Ft, also there is no 1 foot rollout, so the timing beam is broken immediatly the car starts to move.
Add to that the unprepared surface and it not unusual for cars to post times 1/2 second slower than at the drag strip.
Had a great "slow" day myself, watched a lot of great cars, and chatted with a lot of interesting people, well done to everyone that took part.

There have also been some safety issues in past events.
As regard roll out that would give a slower time but at the track I deep stage anyway.
Thats the reason I gave the 1/4 result from Shoreham Airport as that is about the same as street pavement / tarmac anyway.
Currenty personal best is a 1.48 0-60ft and 10.92 et @ 124.9mph
If you got those cars to a RWYB it would be good to compare results on a prepped track - see you on the 19th ??

If your in the 10's and have a 1.48 60ft, great time BTW, then presumably you have a fully prepped drag car and a lot of experience running down the strip? A lot of people at Brighton, like myself, come from a Sprinting background where although the start is important, we have little experience and also have to be able to go round corners. In my car which is slow to get going I try to stage a shallow as possible as this seems to help the times, perhaps I am wrong? For me a typical 60Ft at the strip is 1.8 v 2.2 at Brighton.

No not a fully preped drag car ( I wish )
A street driven 2600kg pickup truck which is used as a daily driver and for towing sometimes oh and the odd tunnel run

Not too bad as it was on overheated road tyres
