one for the Cartier experts
Discussion
My moms rotary club are raising funds for a hospice by collecting and sending in old watches. She has been given a Cartier watch by a friend to add to the pot, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn't a legit one and she was unknowingly giving away thousands of pounds.
So my question is, is this a real Cartier or a fake? and if real what model is it
TIA

You probably need to carefully take the back off to be sure.
My mum found a cartier at a house she bought with a pot of screws and stuff. I took it to Christies to see if it were genuine and they said it was fake, so it was buried in a drawer. A couple of years later we told the story to a friend who took the back off - hidden was a beautiful, genuine, Cartier movement! It seems the redial and story of how it was acquired lead the 'expert' to call fake. Good job we didn't bin it!
