PH Westfield Experience 31/10/09

Join PH and Westfield for a great day at Millbrook Proving Ground

We all know how great Westfields are, and even more so if you have the chance to get one on the track. That's why PistonHeads has teamed up with Westfield Sportscars to provide a fantastic day of driving at Milbrook that is exclusive to PHers.

Throughout the day the team from Westfield will put you through your paces in a variety of driving exercises, while training you in the art of car control along the way. It is certainly a full- on day as the timetable suggests:

08.45 - Arrival/Safety Briefing. Introduction to The Team

09.00 - Demonstration: This will be an intro taster that will allow you to learn control of the vehicle, understand the counter steering and feel the raw power of the car. There will be one-to-one tuition. The last few laps of each will be timed and will count towards the individual prizes

09.10 - Driving Commences: Autotest. The main autotest will be run where you will utilise what you have learnt. This is higher speed and requires deep concentration. All events are timed and the autotest will be advanced driving requiring full control while using elements learnt in the taster development earlier in the day to navigate through donuts, tight corners and shorter swept corners. The recorded times will count towards the team prizes

12.30 - Lunch

13.30 - Driving Recommences: Drifting. The main drifting area will teach people how to control the car in a drift manoeuvre, utilising figures of eight and long swept corners. The ultimate in sideways action, this requires deep concentration on the steering and throttle control - no brakes or hand brakes are used.

15.00 - Hot Rides: Each person will experience the awesome power of the new Westfield AeroRace. Driven by a professional driver the car will launch you round the fast track in seconds, drifting where possible at 110mph. You will certainly be smiling when you get out of the car!

16.30 - Driving Ends

16.40 - De-brief and Prizes

17.00 - Day ends

The price for the day is only £199 per person, and as places are limited we suggest you book early. To book, or if you have any questions please call 01384 400077.

Please note that you must have a valid full driving licence to participate on the day and you must bring this with you. Helmets/glasses and safety equipment will be provided.

Millbrook is situated between Junctions 12 and 13 of the M1 and directions can be found via their website www.millbrook.co.uk (follow the link to “Contact Us” and then for “Directions By Car”).

Which sounds great for someone like myself - but then the next line says that the competitive stuff starts at 9:10! Pretty sure that I would need more than 10 minutes to learn all that. frown

Westfield do these quite regularly so there will always be another chance. I think the PH exclusive day is a little cheaper though (but not much)

Well, 3 mates and I are in. I got the impression it is now fully booked. I managed to persuade the Mrs that it was my birthday present smile

My brother and I are signed up and very much look forward to it. They said they normally limit these days to 18 people to ensure a good amount of time behind the wheel for each individual so sounds good.
