Anyone Else Being Plagued By House Spiders At The Moment?

Dammit, there have been quite a few facebook statuses and threads on here indicating that spider season is upon us.
Only a matter of time before one freaks me out and I no longer walk into a dark room without turning a light on and scanning the floor first.

Yep, quite a few of 'em! I threw one out last night that was fairly large ... about the size of a small mobile phone!

Yep, I had an epic duel with one the other night involving shoes, umbrellas and a well positioned African mask. After an intense battle where tears were shed on both sides, I eventually arose victorious.

Of course, it doesn't help backing on to the canal.

I have subscribed to the old wives tale about conkers. Flat is full of conkers and no spiders as yet!

I do however have about 7 of them in funnel shaped webs in the airvents on the outside of my house, probably just a matter of time before they come in looking for the ladies!

I trapped one in a tin once, and it made a tapping noise against the metal. Freaked me the fk out. I just put a post card under the tin and threw the whole lot out my window XD

Also I was on a canal boat that had seen better days. It sat on the bottom of a canal for a while.

It was INFESTED.

I took a lynx can and a lighter to about 100 spiders that holiday. Wiped out entire families like a god.

am not doing too badly so far, only 2 that i've seen dies quickly without much of a fight. they're bloody quick though!

I live in the country... there must be at least 2 or 3 spiders in every room. They don't bother me, so I don't bother them.

Yep. Also we've had a few wasps a day in our house.

I was a spider hater but I have seen the light. It was in the form of the hugest garden spider I have ever seen with a web full of wasps. It was actually eating a wasp when I saw it. It now has a web full of wasps on my roof garden When I move at the end of september, I am taking it with me

We've got a fair few about the place at the minute to. Just leave them be though or move them along if they are in the way.

Leave them be, they aren't doing any harm and they keep the wasp/fly/mozzi population down. All you have to do in return is walk round the house with a furry stick every so often to remove the old webs and not scream like a big girl when something that looks like the bd love child of a tarantula walks across the floor.

Yep had some massive bds when I was moving house hiding under some of the boxes.

Spiders are fine since they get the wasps and flies so I leave them be.

Had a garden spider that wanted to be a car spider yesterday. I scared me while I was trying to clean the car.
I removed it with my spider stick (a garden cane) to further away from me. Silly thing crawled back to the car and onto the wheel, where just metres away are the woods for it to hang from.

Now you mention it...yes...and there are a couple of whoppers (well, whoppers for England) in my garden too, the web is about 18" wide....maybe they are launching some sort of invasion....
