BCE - double standards?

Well of course he operates on double standards but.....
Did you see the state of the Monza pit garages when the BBC crew were doing the pre race babble? They needed a right good rub down and coat of hammerite!
He's been on at the BRDC to improve Silverstone for years and Monza can't even sprice the place up for the GP weekend!! Both places have historical ties to the F1 world championship so you can't just say"it's Monza". It's a while since I've been in the Silverstone pitlane but I remember it being much tidier than that.
I'm all for F1 being a good show and of a consistently high standard for the paying publc and corporate guets but that's a major oversight in my book!
I'm disappointed at BCE allowing such a thing to happen, I have admired the job he has done in publicising F1 over a sustained period but has he taken his eye off the ball or does he only car about the VIP areas?

If you think that the constant jibes by BCE has anything to do with facilities then I am afraid you are sorely mistaken.
Silverstone did need a little TLC a few years ago but compared to some of the tracks I have been to they are light years ahead. Monza is a particularly run down place and I have heard tell that Interlagos makes a favela look like a des. rez.

that plus he seems to have a vendetta against BRDC
I visited Monza some years ago (not for the GP) and was appaulled at the state of the place (to be fair; it may have been upgraded since, certainly over the same timescale Silverstone has moved on a huge amount); Monaco a couple of years ago was also woeful in terms of spectator facilities, but of course that is a special case!
At the end of the day for BCE the most important thing is how much are they going to pay for the race (with the exception of Monaco probably) - it is interesting that some of the Eastern circuits are now questioning government funding, so perhaps the bubble will burst!

Bernie got presented with a nice red blazer courtesy of Santander in Monaco. I think his problem is that he wants a blue one with a BRDC badge on it really, but they won't let him into their club and he can't bring himself to admit it publically

I'm fairly sure he is, was just checking the site to see what type he has. 99% certain he was even given an award by them a number of years back, can't remember which one it was though!MRS Hui

There have been a great many utterances from him about blazer types, and yes we all know that Silverstone is supposed to be the jewel in the crown (even though Monza doesn't have to be). He really does seem to have a problem with Jackie Stewart and the members of the BRDC and their running of Silverstone that goes beyond mere disagreement.
Are we saying that all the above is a smokescreen for the fact that BCE would rather give the race to a circuit that pays him much more money but doesn't want to be the guy who sells Silverstone out... oh. Yes that's stonkingly likely isn't it?
