There's a Ginetta G28 on eBay, ending tomorrow. I like the look of it but I know nothing about them! Can anyone provide any info?

Steel Fiesta doors. Cortina suspension. V6s in some. Only a handful built. A bit like a smaller Coupe version of the G26.

Is that the same one that's in the PH classifieds? Seems like a lot of car for the money if it's in good nick.

Yes, it's the same one. I didn't bid on eBay (and it didn't sell) but I think I'm going to send him an offer.

What was your impression of it in person? (presuming you took the picture)

It looks in very good condition from the advert.

I didn't take the pic, but the person who did will be along soon, I e-mailed him.

Hi,
I took the picture.
What's to say??
It's a nice car from the look I had at it. A little bit of rust bubbling around the edge of the passenger door. Obviously I didn't get underneath at the chassis or anything, but it didn't look a shed, far from it. Looked like the bloke has really looked after it. Nice guy, too.

Chassis is likely to be fully galvanised also.

Thanks. Galvanized and wax oiled apparently. I'll give him a call tomorrow and make an offer I think.

they are rare....but nobody likes them...they do not have any "status" or "importance" in the club or the enthusiasts. there isnt any market for such cars.

you like it or dislike it, there isnt anything inbetween.

first of all i dislike the sunroof: ok, its typical 80ies, but not original and in most cases the owner has fitted a cheapish, prone to leak sunroof from your DIY market around the corner.

2nd dislike: that the doors are made of steel and they are always rusty.
3rd dislike: the car´s design does not look "harmonic" and the side view umasks the fiesta as a donor for the doors.
4th dislike: the interior does not make me leap for joy.
and finally : the front looks like an Escort Mk3

anyway: 1250pound isnt much for a car...and the chassis is galvanized!!!

Exactly. I occasionally feel tempted to pick up one of the Ginetta saloons as a runaround. A good one should be no worse than a Sierra.

if you buy the car please prove b4 that the chassis is really galvanized...black chassis paint or underseal should be a warning. scratch it off and check if its galvanized underneath.

but please do not use this car as a daily driver all around the year.

max. 2 years, incl. autumn and winter and the car will suffer from that.

use it as a daily driver in late spring and summer, buy a cheapish "winter-car" and thats it.

I was intending to run it as a daily driver. He wants to think about my offer while advertising it elsewhere. I probably end up buying something else in the meantime so I doubt I'll end up with it.
