Off on Sunday via Dubai. Having been to the Maldives a few times I was a bit uncertain as it is close to Male. Its got very good reviews but good to hear from anyone who has been this year!!

My parents go back every year and they absolutely love it. I've never heard a bad word said and the photos they bring back always look amazing.

They stay in one of those water bungalows which look amazing.

Have fun

This is a view that you will fall in love with, but feel very sad when you leave.

The Bar, also known as the "the holy grail", i was there for 2 weeks and my bar bill was $5500 and I loved it.
The good old days of danger money and when the dollar was strong.
Go full board and you'll save a few quid or have a holiday and drink champagne and feed the baby sharks little bits of chicken. As soon as they sense blood the other fish bugger off and the sharks go mental. That is a must.

Make sure you take some snorkelling kit with you. These Ray's are all over the place.
There is a small island, about half the size of a tennis court West of the island, get the morning sun there and it's glorious.
Enjoy, you'll love it. Don't worry about my bar bill, those where the crazy day's.

Forgot to say, wherever you go in the Maldives, if you like a drink, you must go AI.

Also been to Bandos, and White sands. They may have renamed White sands, as they also had this "no shoes, no news" policy. The ex took 9 pairs, I kid you not.

Yay Patrick, great pics its exactly as you have shown.Posting this with a large glass of champagne. Been here just two days after a great 5 day stop over in Dubai and out in the desert at Al Maha. Weather superb, food to die for and credit card on melt down. That bar in real life is so spectacular.

Anyway sod this the beach awaits.
Thanks again.

There is no AI in the top places - they don't tend to allow it when the wine list goes up to $15k bottles and the cognac goes up to $500 a shot.

ETA - my wife told Reethi Rah we were celebrating our wedding anniversary (we were sort of - I was too busy at work last month too celebrate it) and we arrived in our villa to find a bottle of Dom Perignon 2000. That surprised me.
