this guys quite crazy.. Ive watched a bit of base jumping on the net before but this is in a different league.
but it kinda makes sense that he wants to commit suicide. Just a glorified way of doing it.. Still very good to watch though and very interesting.

Yeah it was.. I now feel small and the 9-5 now seems even more mundane.

fk me what a rush, was almost cheering him down. No sod I was cheering him down.

Great Quote from his troubled past.

"In looking for death I really found my life"

It may of been slightly different than that but basically that, very profound.

Can't help feeling he'll end like his mate on that bridge though, but hope not.

That was really cool, i've always been interested in base jumping but never got round to it. Couldn't help but feel it's a bit cruel on the parents making them go through that every time he goes to jump.

But he also said this was only the second jump his mother had seen first hand!

I have grave reservations about these types of characters. The only positive side is that their eventual death will provide entertainmant to some.

Utter exhibitionists and totally deranged.

First hand, yes. But he probably tells her about every jump he does so she has that on her mind every time. So she's probably worried about her son dying at least 100 times.

So the extreme adrenaline rush, pleasure, and sense of happiness that they get for themselves from doing what they do isn't a positive thing then?

Did anyone else get the feeling his mate intended to kill himself? What he said about the guy being anxious in the plane, turning to him and saying "whatever happens was meant to happen" and then hitting the bridge when he really shouldn't have

Yea, I was thinking that It did seem a little strange. And that Jed man said it was impossible to hit the bridge. I know nothing about flying in a wing suit so I shall take his word for it. He just plowed straight into the bridge. It was a strange moment.

Fair play to the actual Matterhorn Jump it was seriously incredible. His quote something like "Life is just a collection of experinces until you die, I want my experinces to be the best" What a good quote to live your life by. Only got one shot might as well make the most of it.

Did you actually listen to what he said about his background and reasons?

As impressive as the Matterhorn jump/flight was, as with his other "stunts" and feats, I'd take anything that he said about the events of the day with a pinch of salt. Whilst he was very close to the ground / mountain on the Matterhorn on his way down, I recall him saying to his mother on the phone about being "4 or 5 feet from the ground". He was low for sure, and there were flashes where he got particularly low, but he was 10 times that from what I could see.

I thought he was a very strange bloke. No wonder he got picked on at school, he irritated me greatly.

How did he fund this extreme lifestyle?

I mean, FFS, I would be out there making every experience the best it could be, but I have to go to fekin work frown

Very impressive nonetheless.

For someone who is usually so even-handed in their comments, the above comments are particularly cold hearted and ignorant...

Just because YOU don't "get it" does not mean to say that people who do stuff like this are deranged wink

Indeed.

I'm a qualified Skydiver (which most people class as extreme enough)but I'm keen to give base jumping a go at some stage. I'm not deranged at all (I don't think wobble ) - but the feeling of jumping out of a plane, and the subsequent feeling of being in freefall, are both out of this world, and undescribable to those who have no experience of it. (Many people do a tandem jump (for charity etc) the vast majority state they definitely want to do that again.)

This guy was just taking it to the next level, but there is no question he is incredibly skilled in what he was doing.

All that stuff about the 'gift of fear' was absolute twaddle, however, and he did come across as an absolute t**t.
